Where to start
Decide whether you booked Amtrak/MARC or the MTA Light Rail. For Amtrak/MARC, leave baggage claim for the lower-level inner roadway and locate a rail-station shuttle stop. The airport’s current map marks rail-station boarding outside Doors 2, 8, 15 and 17. For light rail, go toward the stop outside the lower terminal next to Concourse E instead of boarding the Amtrak/MARC bus.
How the movement works
BWI describes the Amtrak/MARC bus as a free connection between the terminal and the separate station; its official Washington travel page says shuttles run approximately every 10–15 minutes. That is a frequency, not a guarantee of the time to catch a train. The airport map separately marks hotel, parking, rental-car, regional-bus and light-rail locations. Read the sign on the vehicle and the destination printed on your rail ticket.

Before you rely on this route
The airport’s hotel courtesy-shuttle information sends off-site hotel vans to a different lower-level pickup zone. Rental-car shuttles also have their own doors. A traveler headed from BWI to a flight at DCA or IAD must plan a distinct inter-airport trip, not a terminal transfer. Recheck the rail operator’s train departure, the airport bus stop and any accessibility requirements before leaving the terminal.
Check your operating flight and the airport’s current notice before you go. A short ride or a frequent bus won’t tell you whether you have enough time for the whole connection.
