Miami Airport Skytrain and Terminal Walkways

Miami Airport uses Level 3 moving walkways between its terminals, a Skytrain along Concourse D, and a separate MIA Mover toward the rental car and intermodal center. Choose the system that matches your destination.

Where to start

Check your operating flight and concourse before following a train sign. For another terminal, use the Level 3 moving walkways described by MIA. If both gates are in the long Concourse D, look for an elevator to one of the four Skytrain stations instead. The MIA Mover heads to the rental car and intermodal center; it isn't the Concourse D train.

How the movement works

The airport describes departures and check-in on Level 2, arrivals and baggage claim on Level 1, and interterminal walkways on Level 3. Its flight-connection page gives a 15-minute orientation allowance between South and North Terminals, but this isn't a minimum connection time. The Skytrain serves four locations along Concourse D; the operator says trains arrive about every three minutes. Reaching a station, waiting, security and gate travel add time.

Before you rely on this route

For an international arrival connecting onward in the United States, the airport tells passengers to collect checked baggage before U.S. Customs. For an international-to-international connection, it says to ask the airline whether the bag is checked through. Don't turn a published walkway or train segment into a guarantee of airside access. Confirm the actual arrival procedure, bag routing and next checkpoint with the operating carriers.

Check your operating flight and the airport’s current notice before you go. A short ride or a frequent bus won’t tell you whether you have enough time for the whole connection.

Common questions

Is the MIA Mover the same as the Skytrain?

No. The Skytrain runs along Concourse D; the MIA Mover connects toward the rental car and intermodal center.

Does a 15-minute terminal estimate cover my connection?

No. The airport’s orientation estimate doesn't include customs, bags, security, waits or the gate deadline.
