Before choosing a shuttle or train, find out where your checked bag goes and whether you must clear security again. Those two answers can change the whole route.
Confirm the baggage tag
Ask the check-in agent whether your checked bag is tagged to your final airport and whether you must collect it at the transfer airport. Save the baggage receipt. Separate tickets or airline agreements may change the answer.
Separate transport from screening
A train or shuttle link doesn't settle whether you must pass immigration or security. JFK says terminal changers pass TSA again. O’Hare has a restricted airside TTB and a separate ATS option. Changi T4 transit shuttle requires a through-checked itinerary.
If the status is unclear
Use the airline transfer desk or airport information counter before leaving the secure area. Check the government entry rules if you may need to cross the border. If you can't verify a condition, treat the route as unconfirmed.
